The Matala Bay Hotel is a modern resort with a white facade, located on shingle beach 400 metres from central Matala in the south of Crete. This three storey hotel features 55 guestrooms, all of which include simple white decor with dark wood furnishings and mountain views. All rooms have direct dial phones, refrigerators on request and extra towels, linen and bedding. The half board room rate incorporates buffet breakfast and dinner each day.
The hotel's Matala Bay Restaurant serves Greek culinary specialities and wines, with international dishes, in a traditional taverna style ambience with rustic furnishings. A taxi from the airport to the hotel costs approximately 61 EUR. The best way to explore the island is by hire car.
Driving directions: From the airport head towards Iraklion and exit at Mires, turn right at the first junction and head south through Gortys. Follow signs for Mires and Timbaki, then Matala. The hotel is in the centre of Matala, on the right hand side.
